Accommodation For Vice-Chairman And Members
D.O. F.NO.21/30/93/Ad.IC
September 14, 1993
Dear,
We have a Settlement Commission (Income-tax/Wealth-tax) dealing with settlement of tax liability in big and complicated cases and a CEGAT(Customs, Central Excise & Gold Control Appellate Tribunal). They are high level quasi-judicial bodies and having all India jurisdiction. They are the highest appellate bodies in taxation matters outside the judiciary. It is therefore essential in the public interest that the Members of these two bodies are given Government residential accomodation on a priority basis, so that they do not have to seek obligations from private individual/institutions in securing residential accommodation.
Shri S.R.Wadhwa, a Member, of the Settlement Commission, who has been posted at Bombay sometime back, has not been allotted an official residence so far. I shall be grateful if suitable Government accommodation is ordered to be allotted to Shri Wadhwa on a priority basis, by treating him at par with Members of other Tribunals like CAT and Industrial Tribunal.
With kind regards.
Yours sincerely,
